Definition of "Fans" in Forum
Definition of "Fans" in Forum
Hi,
since it was often stated in some posts "XYZ Topic has 200.000 Fans" based on the number in the topic overview, could the admin kindly clarify what a "Fan" in this sense actually is? I presume this is not 200.000 individual people, but similar to "unique visitors" which is a common KPI that actually means "views" which, in consequence, could also be a far lower number of individual people that look often into a forums topic.
Is this assumption correct or wrong?
Thx

Re: Definition of "Fans" in Forum
I have already explained many times all new IP + email adress are considered as a new person and "FANS".
It's clearly not a full 100 % exact number but as everyone here as the same way to be "loved" then it's fair and give a good idea about the popularity of a person here !!!

Re: Definition of "Fans" in Forum
It seems to be simple topic views, meaning click the topic - 1 more "fan", do it again, another "fan" and so on an so forth.. Just tried it with this topic actually.. If you don't believe my theory, try it for yourself, click the topic, than the "general discussion" header, and voila - another "fan". You can repeat this as long as it pleases youEintracht wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 7:50 pmHi,

So if there are 92000 members here. How does one get 200 000. Of the 92000 members, are these only offical members? and the rest of the 110 000 are unofficial? Meaning only forum members
Re: Definition of "Fans" in Forum
Well no offense Pierre, but that can't be true for the topic "fans", since I just managed to be counted as 10 "fans" for this topic, by just visiting in 10 times..PIERRE WOODMAN wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 8:31 pmI have already explained many times all new IP + email adress are considered as a new person and "FANS".

I think you two are absolutely right. I had the same feeling when I was looking at the numbers of members. Those are the only one where the email address is known. The "fans" are "unique visitors" and thats probably where the misunderstanding is coming from because "unique visitors" are clicks / views. This means that one person theoretically could click his favored girl up to 200.000 fans if he has a strong finger and a robust mouse pad.

Yep, it's still a reasonable indicator for popularity though, unless there are really some people "mass-clicking" a certain topic.Eintracht wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 8:58 pmpatbah77 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 8:39 pmIt seems to be simple topic views, meaning click the topic - 1 more "fan", do it again, another "fan" and so on an so forth.. Nevertheless the term "fans" is a little misleading, since these are not individuals, like some people in this forum seem to believe, talking about "girl xyz has ... fans"..
Re: Definition of "Fans" in Forum
Exactly. that came into my mind when some topics were boosted my mass-postings, and the poster then said "but xyz has xyz fans now!!" referring to his own clicks / the clicks induced by his own postings.patbah77 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:08 pmYep, it's still a reasonable indicator for popularity though, unless there are really some people "mass-clicking" a certain topic.

Concerning the reasonable indicator ... yes, but sometimes it is more about traffic caused by what is happening within the girls topic.

So basically the new IP are visitors, not fans not the same thing. I visited many ugly girls topic before. It's not true to consider me their fan.
